ELECTRONIC GEOMETRIC PIGGING
EGP is intended for measurement of internal pipeline bore profile and determination of pipeline axis position. Operation principle of electronic geometry pig is based on reconstruction of pipe internal cross section according to the data of lever measuring system.
With EGP technology from Analytic Pipe, we are quite capable of executing a Caliper/ EGP Job so as to identify any out of roundness or the geometrical defects of pipelines of sizes from 8in - 48in. We are fully equipped to handle a caliper inspection job of any cross-country pipeline transporting oil & gas including those at the construction stage i.e., during the pre-commissioning activities.
Principle Of Operation
Caliper pig or the Electronic Geometry Pig is a device which is designed to measure the internal geometry of the pipeline including dents, buckles & ovalities. Also, it is capable of identifying the other pipeline features like girth welds, change in wall thickness, bends, tees and valves etc.
During a caliper tool inspection, the pig travels inside the pipeline and continuously measures the inside diameter through an array of sensing fingers mounted circumferentially on it. Our Caliper-Tools are capable of negotiating a bore restriction of ~ 25% of Pipeline ID. During the calliper tool inspection, the data is digitised and recorded on a solid state memory inside the recorder.
The very first EGP job was executed by us in year 2005 for GAIL (India) Ltd. for a small pipeline section of Dia. 12" ~50 Km in southern part of India. Since then, we have successfully carried out EGP surveys for several new pipeline projects under the ownership of GAIL, IOCL, HPCL, BPCL, GSPL, GIGL and their PMCs like EIL, MECON, GSPL, GIGL, JP Kenny/ Wood Group, Tractebel etc. So far we have completed more than 8000 Km of EGP inspection jobs in India for various sizes of oil & gas pipelines.
We are fully equipped to handle the EGP jobs of Dia. 8" - 30" pipelines in India and can also undertake jobs for the larger sizes upto 48in with co-operation from our counterpart abroad.
